Today’s vocabulary course focuses on the rooms of the house.
I have put together a list of 25 words with the names of the different rooms that can be found in a house. Most of these words are synonyms for other words, especially when in Japanese you sometimes have a purely Japanese word and its equivalent in katakanized English. Some words are not room house’s names like, for example, "the staircase", "the roof", "the floor", "the ceiling" or even "the window"... but they are important words to know, so I put them in this list.
In addition, explanations await you at the end of the course to help you better understand certain words.

It’s time to move on to some explanations.
The word "the dining room" can be said "ダイニングルーム" (from the English "dining room") or "ダエニング" which is an abbreviation of the English words "dining room" in "dining" alone.
The word "the cave, the basement" can be said 地下室 . チカシツ, which literally means "the underground room". Be aware that there are other words in Japanese to say "the cave, the basement". I gave you the easiest to remember.
The 玄関 . ゲンカン is specific to Japan and the Japanese, where it has been customary since the Heian era (794-1192) to leave your shoes at the entrance of the house with the tips of the shoes facing outwards. The shoes are also removed in a large genkan in schools, certain offices, clinics or restaurants, and in front of all tatami rooms in general.
It seems that there are no real differences between "the window" (窓 . まど) and the "the bay window" (出窓 . でまど). Sometimes a window is called 出窓 . でまど.
I want you to be knowledgeable about the theme of the house, you must be able to name absolutely everything that can generally be found in a house since it is also the place where we generally spend a lot of time. In addition, a lot of the vocabulary that we have just seen and that we will see later will be very useful to you in many situations. For example, in the lesson on "the bathroom", we will see words like "the toothbrush", "the toothpaste", "the razor", "the soap", "the washcloth"... names of objects of everyday life that we can find elsewhere. In a supermarket or a Japanese convenience store for example, if you need to buy a toothbrush or toothpaste, at least you will know how these words are pronounced and how they are written. It would be great !
