How to say in Japanese that the sun is shining? Whether the sky is calm or it’s raining? If the rain is just a passing downpour, drizzle or heavy rain... Or a hurricane is brewing. With this new vocabulary, you will have enough to follow the Japanese weather forecast on television. You can even make a few comments when you step outside. It’s a beginning.
For this list of vocabulary words, I tried to stick to 20 vocabulary words. You’ll eventually have 25 to learn, that’s just what you need and I guarantee it’s worth it.
This time we are going to study the vocabulary of weather and climate. Most of these words are built from kanji you already know, some from your very first vocabulary course. Other kanji are totally new and you will even find some words that can have at least two different pronunciations. It’s quite rare, but it does happen.

We are finally at the end of this list. This vocabulary course was quite dense and, no doubt most of you will have found this list more difficult to learn than the previous ones, and if so, that’s normal. You have to keep in mind that the further we go, the more we will tackle a complex vocabulary. Although I have managed to keep my list at only 25 words, the theme of "weather and climate" is very broad. Maybe I’ll do another vocabulary course on the same topic a bit, we’ll see. Of course, I consider all of these words very important and very common in the Japanese language so take your time to learn them well. At least you now have enough to follow the Japanese weather forecast.
I didn’t put cloud names like "nimbus" or "cumulo-nimbus", they are a bit more technical terms but if you are curious and motivated you can always look up these words in the dictionary.
For your general knowledge, and for those of you who do not know, I will quickly come back to the word 雲霧林 . ウンムリン which means "the cloud forest". In fact, this word is the name given to a high-altitude tropical forest that is almost always bathed in fog, hence the word.
This vocabulary course is now over. Thank you for reading it to the end. As usual, keep working well, practice writing and speaking and you will keep making progress. Happy revisions to everyone.
